We are 6 in the family; I have 3 sisters and I am the oldest. I belong to a middle class family who is residing at San Fernando, Cebu south part of Cebu. I was in my fourth grade when our father left us to work in Saudi but now he is in Dubai. He has to leave us here in the Philippines so that he can give us a better life. With that, he was able to send us to a prestigious school and have our degree. My mother is a plain housewife. She is the one taking care of us. She cooked food for us, she washed our clothes but sometimes she let us do all the chores at home. I and my sister (next to me) already graduated from college. She graduated a year ago and she finished Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Next to her is a 3rd year student taking up Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management at theUniversity of Cebu. And our youngest is still in her 2nd year in high school. At the age of 21, I got pregnant and became a mother of a very beautiful and sweet girl. I and her father were not yet married but we are living at the same house. We planned to get married by the time we already have enough money.

私は6人家族で、4人の姉妹の長女です。私は普通の家庭に生まれ、San Fernandoというセブの南部の街に住んでいます。私が4年生の時、父はサウジアラビアに働きに行きましたが、今はドバイで働いています。父は私たち家族により良い生活を送らせるために、私達をフィリピンに残し働きに行かなければなりませんでした。これによって、彼は私達を有名な大学に入れ、学位を所得させることができました。母はごく普通の主婦です。彼女は私達を気遣ってくれる一人です。ご飯を作り、洗濯をしてくれますが、時々私達に家事をすべて任せます。私と次女はすでに大学を卒業しています。彼女は一年前に建築学部を修了しました。三女はセブ大学の3年生でホテルやレストランのマネージメントを学んでいます。一番下の妹はまだ高校2年生です。21歳の時、私は妊娠し、かわいい女の子の母になりました。私たちはまだ結婚していませんが、一緒に暮らしています。十分なお金ができたら結婚しようと考えています。

This is my very first time to be teaching a student in different country with different language and with different culture. But this is not a hindrance for me to do my job and to deliver the lessons well. With this, I was able to enhance further my interpersonal and communications skills. It would be a great achievement for me if I can help my students with their learning and that’s a thing that I should be proud of.

私にとって異なる言語、文化を持つ異国の生徒に教えるのは初めての経験です。しかし、これが仕事をするうえで、また良いレッスンを行ううえで障壁となることはありません。この経験を通じ、対人スキルやコミュニケーションスキルを高めることができるでしょう。もし私の生徒を手助けすることができたら、私にとって素晴らしい功績ですし、誇るべきことだと思います。

I love watching cartoons like Tom and Jerry because I feel like a child when I am watching that kind of tv shows. It feels good to be child once more. No worries and no problems to think. And it is a stress reliever for me.

私は子供のような気持ちに戻れるので、『トムとジェリー』のようなアニメを見るのが好きです。もう一度子供のような気持に戻るのは、心地よいです。心配事も問題も考えなくてよいのです。そしてストレスを取り除いてくれます。

My goal is to be a source, an instrument of learning for my student. Having a good feedback from them, saying “that English was not that hard after all”, is a big accomplishment.

私の目標は生徒にとっての学習の鏡になることです。“英語は決して難しいものではない！”ということを伝え、生徒に適切なフィードバックをすることは、大きな成果となるでしょう。

Japan is a beautiful country with beautiful people. I can see that on Tv shows featuring them, and some of my friends are living there and I saw their photos. There place looks busy all day. I can say that Japanese people are successful with their attitude you can see that. They are strong and disciplined.

日本は美しい人々の住む、美しい国です。私はテレビや日本に住む友人の写真で日本のことを知ることができます。日本はいつも忙しそうな国に見受けられます。日本人は成功を収めています。彼らは力強く、そしてよく教育されています。
