I am 26 years old, the eldest of three children, and have been living in Cebu City all my life. Cebu, my hometown, is a city rich in history and culture but also offers a lot of excitement for contemporary living. The summers are always hot, but in this humble island one can go on a trip to the beach or even go deep-diving on a whim. If out of town is not on the menu, the hotels, malls, and business centers lie in wait in the ever-expanding commercial sector. The food, as varied as its vibrant town fiestas, is always a treat. Cebu is both the old and the new, the East and the West, the sun and rain, and everything in between!
私は26歳で、3人兄弟の1番上です。ずっとセブ市で暮らしています。セブは私の故郷でもありますし、歴史や文化を感じさせる所でもあると思います。夏はいつも暑くて、この島では、ビーチに行ったり、ダイビングをすることができます。町から出なくても、ショッピングモール、ホテル、ビジネスセンターに行くことができます。このような施設は最近多くなってきています。私にとっては、種類豊富なセブでの食事は、喜びでもあります。セブは古さと新しさ晴天と雨の日といった、たくさんのものを持っている場所です。 - Comments to students
For me, it's not always the teaching that counts, but the enthusiasm in learning and the joy of sharing. I want to emphasize to my students that I will share my knowledge and experience to be both a guide and an instructor, but I also would like them to be determined and persevering. I am not a perfect teacher of the language since it is not my native tongue, and I may not have all the answers, but I will try my best to be good in what I know and what I can teach. I will not stop until I know I have shared and taught all I can and see my students improve. I want to tell my students that learning and improving in the language is a daily dedication and that I want to be able to help them in this way.
私にとっては、教えることが全てではないですが、学ぶこととそれを分け合うことは大好きです。英語を教える人として、私は私の知識と経験を分け合います。けれども、生徒さんの意志も尊重します。英語は私の母国語ではないので、完璧な英語の先生ではないとは思います。しかし、知識のある限りのことはすべて教えます。生徒さんにすべてを教え、生徒さんが成長してくれたと感じるまでは、教えることをやめません。言語を学び、上達させることは、日々の献身であると思います。生徒さんが日々頑張れるような授業をしていきたいです。 -
Favorite TV program and its contents
I'm not really fond of TV programs, but just recently I got hooked to watching the "Prison Break" series. I like it because it has a plot that invites and at the same time challenges the viewer to think about themes of love, truth and justice, freedom, trust, and sacrifice in real life. It also manages to provide a colorful cast of characters which evoke interest in their character development as the plot continues to unfold.
テレビ番組がそんなに好きではありません。しかし、最近はプリズンブレイクにはまっています。見る人に愛、真実、正義、自由、信頼、犠牲について考えさせるところがいいと思います。また、出演者たちが魅力的な所もいいと思います。 -
Goals and dreams as an English teacher
I want to have my own business someday and to have my own children and see them grow up. In deciding to become an English teacher, I've also decided that I want to help others and see them improve. There's no joy and meaning in teaching if I do not see my students achieve their goals. It is only one task for me as a teacher to help them in their learning, but my dream is to actually see them help themselves when I have taught them all I can teach.
いつか自分のビジネスを持ちたいと思っています。さらに、子どもを持つことと、子どもの成長を見ることも私の夢です。先生になると決めた時に、生徒さんの成長を助けたいと考えました。生徒さんが彼らの目標を達成するのを見ることができなければ、教えることに喜びも意味もないと思います。生徒さんが学ぶ手助けをするのが私の仕事です。生徒さんには生徒さん自身で考えることができるようになってほしいと思います。 - About Japanese and Japan
I've always admired the Japanese for their discipline, and for their hardwork, dedication, and focus to a task. I think when it comes to speaking English, some of them may be shy, but I know that they don't give up easily and always try their best. Their quality of work is excellent and that is why Japan is what it is now. As for Japan, I know it to be a country where advanced technology and the beauty of nature exist as good neighbors. If I'm going to picture it, it will be me surfing wireless internet on my shiny, new ultra-thin portable laptop, listening to music, under the cherry blossom tree and enjoying barbecue and sushi! Even crazy ideas happen to be made-in-Japan! Talk about Godzilla, ninjas, robots, more robots, and all those animes. I think Japan is expensive to live but you get the dynamic mix of technology, nature, and its rich culture.
日本人が規則を守り、仕事に熱心で献身的で努力することはすばらしいことだと思います。なかには、英語を話すこととなると、シャイになってしまう人もいます。しかし、簡単に諦めることなく、いつも一生懸命がんばっていると思います。仕事の質もすばらしく、そういったことが今の日本につながっているのだと思います。日本については、科学技術が進んでおり、自然が美しいということを知っています。日本というものを描写すると、ワイヤレスなインターネット、極薄のノートパソコン、桜を見ながら、音楽を聴いたり、バーベキューをすること、寿司などが思い浮かびます。ゴジラや忍者やロボットやアニメも知っています。日本は住むのには物価が高い国であると思いますが、科学技術、自然、豊かな文化が共存する国でもあると思います。
