I was born and raised in Matag-ob, Leyte, one of the remote places of Region 8. Leyte is best known as the place where General Douglas Mac Arthur landed and gave the famous line “I shall return”. I grew in a community where there is no electricity (LEYECO connected it just recently). Playing with the kids under the moonlight and singing songs under the shade of a tree was the best we could do when we were young. I grew up in a big family. I lived together with my mother and 4 siblings and our relatives are just few meters away from our house. I moved to Palompon Leyte when I was in High School together with my 2 elder siblings. After high school, I moved here in Cebu where I finished my college degree while my family remained in Leyte. My mother raised us all 5 and sent us to good schools alone. My Dad died when I was 11 the reason why my mom had to work hard for all of us. Family is best described as happiness. Whatever makes them happy fulfills me.

私は、レイテに生まれて育ちました。 レイテはダグラスマクアーサー司令官が訪れ「私は帰るだろう」という有名な言葉を残した場所として知られています。私は電気が全くない(最近では電力が接続しました)場所で成長しました。 私が小さかったときは、月光の下で子供たちと遊び、木陰で歌を歌うのが、最高の贅沢でした。 私は大家族です。私は母と4人の兄弟と一緒に住み、親類たちは私の家からちょうど数メーター離れたところに住んでいます。高校時代に私は、パルモンレイテに引越しました。 高校の卒業後、私の家族はレイテに留まりましたが、私は大学の為、セブへ移りました。 私の母は一人で、私たち5人を育て上げ、良い学校に行かせました。 私が11歳のとき父は亡くなりました。それが、母が一生懸命働いている理由です。 幸福は家族をを意味するものだと思います。家族を幸福にすることは何でも、私を幸せにします。

I came from a family of teachers. My great grandmother was a teacher so as my grandmother, 3 aunts and an uncle. I was with students since I was 2 years old. My grandmother used to take me to her classes when I was very little. It was fun and filled with positive energy. I personally experienced being a teacher when I was 17 years old – I was given the chance to serve as a volunteer teacher in Guadalupe Night high School here in Cebu. My students then were former drug addicts, street children and therefore considered as juvenile delinquents. I enjoyed teaching, learning with them as well as knowing where they came from was invigorating. I also had foreigner students when I was still studying; I had a student who became my best friend. Stella Lee or Lee Eui Jin in Korea. She was a very happy woman, eager to learn and enjoying every session we had. Now as she enters the university, she is already equipped with enough knowledge that could guide her through. One common character I noticed with the different students I have had – their eagerness to learn. Learning English as well as enjoying every moment of it. As a new teacher here in English Island, I only hope for the best. Best learning to my students and best memories I can bank.

私の家族は皆、教師です。したがって、私の曾祖母、3人のおば、おじも教師でした。2歳の時から、私は学生と一緒にいました。私が小さかったときに、私の祖母は、よく彼女のクラスに私を連れて行っていました。 それは、おもしろく、前向きなエネルギーで満ちていました。 私は17歳の時に教師を経験しました。ボランティア教師としてここ、セブのグアダルーペの夜間高校に勤める機会がありました。私の学生は、元麻薬常用者、ストリートチルドレン、非行少年のような子達でした。 私は、彼らが一生懸命学ぶのと同じくらい、よく学び、教える事を楽しんでいました。 また、私には、学生の時、外国人の学生がいました。 ステラ・リーという韓国人でした。 彼女は勉強が好きで、非常に幸せに満ち溢れている女性でした。そして、一緒にあらゆるセッションを楽しみました。今、彼女は大学に入るほどの知識を既に持っています。 私は、学ぶ熱意に気づきました。英語を勉強して、楽しんでいます。 ここ、イングリッシュアイランドの新任の先生として、私はベストを尽くします。私は生徒と素晴らしい思い出を作ります。

Grey’s Anatomy is one of my favorite TV programs. It’s a story that revolves around the lives of Doctors and the unique cases they encounter. How they live and enjoy their life as doctors and the added complication of their personal lives. Another is Gossip Girl; it has a very light content. Story about high school students who strives hard on how to fit in, struggles of teenagers who want to be famous at school. What I like in the story is the kind of friendship they share. Teens from different walks of life share a common need – that is the love of family and the security it gives

Grey’s Anatomyは私の好きなテレビ番組のひとつです。これは、ユニークな問題に遭遇する医師の人生を中心題目とする話です。彼らは、どう医師と私生活の複雑さを生きて、自分達の人生を楽しんでいるのでしょうか。 もう一つはGossip Girlです。 これはとても簡単な話です。高校生が、どう学校にマッチするか、学校で有名になりたがっているティーンエイジャーとの戦いの話です。 私が話好きであることは、友達とのコミュニケーションの様なものです。 異なった人生の歩んでいる者同士の意思を共有します。 それは、家族の愛とセキュリティです。

I have always wanted to become a teacher; I was given the chance to study and pursue that dream. Until one day I realized I love to organize events, plan for it and implement the ideas I have in mind. I am lucky enough to be given that chance again. I am currently working as a Marketing Officer in one of the big conglomerates here in the Philippines but my love for teaching never stopped. I still do tutorials in the evening. My family and I hope to have our own school for the less privileged someday.

いつも教師になりたいと思っていました。 その夢をかなえる為勉強し、やっとその機会にめぐり合えました。私は、再びその機会に巡り合えて幸運です。私は現在、フィリピンのマーケティング会社で仕事をしています。しかし、私はまだ教師の夢をあきらめていません。また、夜には家庭教師をしています。 私たち家族の夢は、いつか私たち自身の学校を作るということです。

I love Japan. I love how the Japanese transformed Japan to what it is now. It used to be very poor but because of their love for their country, they offered work for free just to make sure their descendants wouldn’t suffer just as how they did. Some of my family members are already in Japan; I even have cousins who have Japanese names – Yoshiko and Yuki (Ryuuki). And a dream I always wish to materialize but can’t do – to have a cherry blossom flower tattooed from my shoulders draping towards my back. I know this will always be just a dream – I can’t endure too much pain and I am not sure if it will still look good even if I’m 80.

私は日本がとても好きです。 私は日本人がどうやって日本を変えたかをとても興味があります。以前は非常に貧しかった国ですが、愛する国のため、彼らは、子孫が苦しまない為に、仕事をしました。私の親族が何人か日本にいます。 私には、ヨシコとユキという従兄弟もいます。 私は出来ないですが、夢があります。私の肩から背中に向かって桜の入れ墨を入れたいという事です。私は、これがいつも、ただの夢になるのを知っています。 私は痛みに耐えれません。そして、私が80歳になった時、それが良く見えるかどうかわかりません。
