5. About hometown and family
There are about 5 of us in the family, one older brother and a younger brother. I was born and raised in Cebu, basically my hometown isn’t that much but it cannot be compared with any other cities here in the Philippines because of its famous diving spots and hospitable people. I am proud being a Cebuana and I always will be. My father is a master mariner and I grew up with my mother most of the time but it doesn’t mean that my father lost interest in us, it’s just that his line of work is more difficult to adjust. I have but a simple family but is raised very well. My mother encourages us to be vocal but not too vocal as what she says. The family likes to spend at least a year to be together with all the relatives from all over the world and it has become a tradition. They say “Family is the most important thing in life.”
5人家族に生まれました。兄と弟がいます。生まれ育った場所はセブです。基本的に私の故郷はたいしたところではありませんが、他のどの市とも比べものになりません。それは、有名なダイビングスポットがあるためや、親切な人々が住んでいるところだからです。私はセブ生まれであることに誇りを持っています。父は船長なので幼い時はほとんどの時間を母と過ごしていました。けれども、それは父が私たちに関心がなかったのではなく、仕事の都合上時間を合わせるのが難しかったからです。一般的な家庭で育ちましたが、立派に育ててもらいました。母には、意見をしっかり言えるようになることを教わりました。1年に1度は世界中からすべての親戚を集めて時を過ごすのが好きな家庭です。みんな「家族が人生で一番大切なものだ。」と考えています。
6. Comments to students
The very first thing that my students noticed is my accent. They always give me compliments that I am easy to understand. They are also very interested in talking about my work as a call center agent and the way I give them the scenarios and discuss the points that they do not understand. Also, they appreciate it when I ask if every thing is clear and repeat the discussion, making sure they really did understand.
生徒さんたちがまず初めに気づくことは、私の発音です。発音がわかりやすい。と、いつも褒めていただきます。生徒さんは、私が以前アメリカのコールセンターで働いていた時の話も楽しんで聞いてくれます。また、私がトピックを提示し、わからない点について議論するという勉強方法も気に入っていただいています。さらに、生徒さんがトピックの内容をすべて理解した時に、もう一度議論を繰り返し、理解を深めるという勉強方法も好まれています。
7. Favorite TV program and its contents
American Series called Prison Break, it is about somebody being accused of murder or being set-up to cover the biggest crime in the history which connects to the President of the United States and the prisoners.
プレズンブレイクというアメリカのドラマが好きです。誰かが殺人の容疑で逮捕されたり、アメリカの大統領と囚人につながる歴史的な大犯罪を計画するといった内容です。
8. Goals and dreams as an English teacher
I am a simple person and I get satisfied with little things, so I don’t have much of a dream than to have a wonderful family one day. Being an English teacher, I always think of what is best for my students so basically, my ambition is to give my students the satisfaction when taking their lessons.
小さなことにでも満足する性格です。いつか素敵な家族を持つことが一番の夢です。英語の先生としては、それぞれの生徒さんにとって一番いい学習方法をいつも考えているので、生徒さんに授業で満足していただきたいです。
9. About Japanese and Japan
I know that the Japanese people are a very warm-hearted people. They are easy to get along with and their intelligence is something beyond my understanding. Their humor is simply hilarious and their ideas are out-of-this-world, that’s the very reason why Japan is most known for their Animation. Aside from that, I have high respect for their culture and tradition and I’m hoping to practice it one of these days. Japan is definitely one of the places on my list to visit.
日本人はとても温かい人々だと思います。仲良くなりやすく、理解力も抜群です。また、明るい性格で想像力も豊かです。そのため、日本はアニメで有名になったのだと思います。私は、日本の文化と伝統に非常に関心があります。近いうちに少し見習ってみたいと思っています。日本は私の訪れてみたい国のひとつです。 |
