- About hometown and family
Though some people say that the kind of family that I have is too conservative and overprotective, it is still one of my treasured things that I can be proud of. At least, I have a family that loves me by intruding in how I go about my life. I belong to a tightly-knitted, middle class family in the town of Palompon which is located in the province of Leyte. In God’s grace, we are still able to get through the day despite experiencing some financial constraints. My father, who is a former municipal employee, is currently staying at home, helping out by doing some chores like cooking. On the other hand, my mother is a plain housewife. In order to earn some income, she also accepts cake orders despite the fact that the capital is on loan or borrowed from various people. I totally admire her especially on how hard she worked and devoted she is to us even though my siblings and I are hardheaded sometimes. I’m the only daughter in the family of five and am in between two tough yet caring brothers. My elder brother, who took up culinary classes in sessions in Cebu, currently assists my mother in the cake business. Whilst, my younger brother is studying as a computer technician. In gratitude and salutation to my parents’ never-ending love and support, I am now sacrificing myself by working in a job that I knew would take me away from them and demand most of my time.
- Comments to student
As a former student, I have to do reports on lessons being assigned by the teacher. The experience gave me insights on how to deliver lessons effectively to my fellow students. Unlike my classmates, I love strict teachers since they show how a model teacher should handle students. By observing my strict teachers, I learned different teaching styles which I believe are very effective in order for students to learn. My two-year experience as a news editor for the College Student Publication in my former school, Palompon Institute of Technology, enhanced my interpersonal and communications skills even further. Based on my previous experiences, I can see that learning is achieved by capturing the students’ motivation and interest first in an amusing way that the students’ mind is at ease. It is fact that a person learns better and faster if he is deeply interested and loves the things that he ought to be knowledgeable about no matter how difficult and complicated they are.
- Favorite TV program and its contents
Unlike most people who prefer watching television series such as dramas, I love watching “National Geographic Channel” since I’ve never had a single knowledge or experience in observing wild life and our surroundings closely. These programs also feature countries across the globe thus, showing the culture of its people. I always fantasized of being a wildlife adventurer or a traveler. I also love watching “MYX Channel” and “MTV Channel” because I’m a certified music lover. I listen to almost any kind of music as long as it is pleasing to hear. I also love imagining myself hosting in these shows. It is kind of embarrassing to admit considering my age but I love watching cartoons particularly anime since it is the one and only type of TV program that relaxes me after a long, and exhausting day due to its hilarious nature. These shows also teach me good morals like appreciating the simple things you have such as your friends and family and showing a great sense of responsibility.
- Goals and dreams as an English teacher
My primary goal as an English teacher is for my students to become an excellent English speaker that they want to be. I want to encourage them not to be ashamed in speaking the English language even though their English-speaking skills are not yet that perfect. I believe in the philosophy “Practice makes perfect”. English teachers like me can do nothing else but teach them how to communicate effectively by enhancing their vocabulary, pronunciation and speaking skills in the best way we can. I want them to always remember that the best teacher is always YOU.
- About Japanese and Japan
Way back in college, during World History classes, Japan has always been dubbed as “The Land of the Rising Sun”. I’ve learned that it is an economically progressive country and is in the lead when it comes to technology. As what I’ve seen in the educational and anime shows that I’ve watched, I observed that Japan is a very peaceful nation since everything is well-organized and its people always follows rules and laws being set by the government. The people are generally hardworking, law-abiding and honest in which guests could leave their valuables such as money on the table in their houses. I can also tell that they are creative since aside from the modern technology, Japan’s anime shows are widely known throughout the world.
