- About hometown and family
I grew up in a very strict and conservative family. I am the only daughter and the second among the 5 siblings. I should say that we are a God-fearing family although not a religious one. My father is a disciplinarian as well as a non-advocate of religions. My mother on the other hand, puts high emphasis on education and strives hard to give us the best education which she never had. My family is a close-knitted one, not only between the seven of us, but also between relatives of both sides. I grew up and live in a neighborhood full of relatives on my father’s side. I also used to visit my mother’s hometown where all the neighbors are all my relatives on her side. Family values, honor and discipline have been instilled to us since childhood; academic and professional excellence has also been a goal. My elder brother is a police officer and two of my younger brothers are following the same path. I hope to become a lawyer in the near future, while the youngest brother, we hope he’d become a medical doctor, and thus, upholding academic excellence in the family.
- About hometown
I am basically born and raised here in Mandaue City, Cebu. I live in a compound full of relatives. Though our place is IN the city but I could describe it as a peaceful and tranquil place, more like countryside, away from the main city. My place is located in the center of Cebu and well a lot convenient. It’s only few minutes from the mall, just a few minutes away from the beaches and just an hour or two away from some provinces.
- Comments to students
I have met a lot of students of different ages, places, jobs, personalities and even English levels but one this is common among the Japanese ESL students – the motivation. Almost every student I met has a very high level of motivation and dedication to improve their English skills. Whether they be a beginner or an intermediate student, the same level of dedication I see. This passion and enthusiam in every Japanese student makes both sides, teaching English, on my part, and studying English, on the student’s part, less stressful and difficult.
Favorite TV program and its contents
As a movie and TV buff, I have a very long list of my favorite TV programs. I must classify them according to their genre.
Crime/Action: Criminal Minds, Crime Scene investigation (CSI) and Prison Break
Criminal minds and CSI are investigating crime unit to tract down perpetrators of the crime. Crmininal Minds focuses on profiling the criminal through their behaviors while CSI tracts them down using pieces of crime scene evidence. Prison Break is a mainstream TV series about a man deliberately getting himself sent to prison in order to help his brother escapeFantasy: Heroes, Lost and Moonlight
Heroes and Lost both has a huge cast. Heroes is about people with extra-ordinary abilities like telekinesis, regeneration, telepathy and revolves around how good mutants should save the world from bad mutants. Lost on the other hand, follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a commercial passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South PacificAbout practicing Law: Boston Legal and Shark
South Park, SpongeBob
As a student whose ambition is to become a good practicing lawyer, I am also interested in legal TV series like Boston Legal and Shark. Boston Legal followed the personal and professional exploits of a group of attorneys working at the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt while Shark is about Sebastian Stark, aka Stark, a notorious Los Angeles defense attorney who becomes a prosecutor.
Horror: Moonlight and Supernatural
Cartoons: South Park and SpongeBob

Criminal Minds, Crime Scene investigation (CSI), Prison Break

Goals and dreams as an English teacher
As an English teacher, my personal and professional goal is to help improve English level of every Japanese student. I should also see to it that I serve best the interest of my students. As an individual, I hope to become a lawyer 3 or 4 years from now and impart my knowledge and expertise to every Filipino people in need. Filipino society, one might see, on a negative note, as a corrupt and unjust society. But for an optimistic person like me, I know that there can still be a better place for every poor Filipino people.
- About Japanese and Japan
I can always remember that when I was a child, Japan was like my dream country. With the advancement of Japan’s technology, I was hoping then to study and work in Japan as an inventor or some sort. I am also into some Japanese movies like Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo, Seven Samurais and Dreams. Samurais always impressed me. I also watched some famous Japanese movies like Letters from Iwo Jima and just recently Tokyo! But neither did I think that one day I’ll be meeting Japanese much more teaching them.
And after almost 7 months of talking and relating to Japanese people, I can say that Japanese culture and values is more than what I saw on the movies. Behind Japan’s rich culture, advanced & environment-friendly technologies and large economy are well-principled, hard-working and brilliant Japanese individuals.
