I am the middle child in a family of three children. As the only child taking up a masters degree, I am tasked with taking care of my siblings. My older sister is taking up Medicine and my younger brother is taking up Business Administration. My mother is a doctor and she’s working abroad. Since my father died four years ago, the four of us in the family are working hard to help each other. We live in a two-storey house located in a subdivision in the first city to south of Cebu City. Though we live in a city, our subdivision still gives us that secure, quiet feeling uncommon in major urban areas. In the morning, we wake up to the sounds of roosters crowing at the break of dawn. During the day, the silence is broken by the occasional cars passing by and people laughing while walking down the street. At night, cricket sounds would fill the air and these sounds are my lullaby. My home is a very good mix of metropolitan comfort in a suburban setting.

私は3人姉弟の真ん中っ子です。 修士号を取っている1人子として、私は姉弟の世話を任されています。私の姉は薬剤免許を取っています。弟は経営管理学を始めています。母は医師で、彼女は海外で働いています。私の父は、4年前に亡くなったので、私たち4人はお互いを助け合いながら一生懸命働いています。私たちはセブ市の南に位置する2階建ての家に住んでいます。都市に住んでいますが、安全で、静かな場所です。 朝、雄鳥が夜が明けたとき鳴く音で目覚めます。1日の間の音は、通り過ぎる車と通りを歩いている人の笑い声のみです。夜、コオロギ鳴き声がたくさん聞こえます。そして、この音は私の子守歌です。我が家は郊外の静けさと都市の快適さが非常に良くミックスした良い場所です。

I have always been inclined to teaching. Since the university I graduated from is well known for producing great teachers, I have also gone through training in teaching. From small group discussions to class discussions, I enjoy talking to people and sharing my knowledge on a subject. I have brought this love for teaching in my profession and as a result has done stints as a communication trainer and process trainer. But this was not enough for me. Nothing ever beats the feeling of accomplishment in seeing the light of understanding dawn in a student’s eyes. Thus, I took up more units in Teaching in my masters degree to ensure that I would be an effective teacher. With the knowledge I have learned, I am now on the road to sharing my knowledge to others in a fun, interactive and informative way.

私はいつも教師になりたいと思っていました。私は、教師をたくさん輩出する大学を卒業し、教育のトレーニングをしていました。小さい集団討議からクラス討論まで、私は、人と話し、議題について、知識を共有し、楽しんでいます。 私が教育に愛を注ぐのには、コミュニケーショントレーナーとプロセストレーナーとしての結果から起因するのだと思います。しかし、私には、これは十分ではありませんでした。生徒が理解できるまで、何も達成感はありません。その為、私は、有能な教師であることを保証するために教育学部でマスター学位を取り、より多くの単位を取りました。私は、現在、学んだ知識を、おもしろく対話的で有益な方法で共有をしようとしています。

I used to be a TV addict in my high school years but I lost interest in the local channels with their cliché dramas. Nowadays, TV series like Criminal Minds, Glee, and House MD; and reality shows like America’s Next Top Model and American Idol make me stop to sit in front of the TV. And yes, I am a huge fan of anime like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Detective Conan and the list goes on! From these shows, you can say that I have mixed interests. I love medical drama like House MD. I love learning about human nature and detective work like in Criminal Minds. And I love listening to music and watching petty high school drama that can only be shown in Glee. The reality TV show America’s Next Top Model teaches me things about modeling and real beauty. American Idol keeps me updated with the newest faces in the music industry. However, I can always forego any episodes of the above series for an episode of any of my favorite anime shows. I may not be a TV addict but I am an anime fan. I can go the whole day curled up in front of the TV just watching anime.

昔、私は高校時代、テレビの中毒者でしたが、今は興味を失いました。この頃は、 Criminal Minds、Gleeのようなテレビシリーズが放送されていました。 そして、アメリカのNext Top Modelとアメリカン・アイドルのような実録番組を欠かさず見ていました。そして、ナルト、Bleach、One Piece、名探偵コナンの様なアニメの大ファンです! この番組から、私はテレビに関心を持つようになりました。私はHouse MDのような医療ドラマがとても好きです。Criminal Mindsでは、人間性と探偵のような仕事を見るのが好きです。そして、私は、Gleeの様な音楽を聴いて、小さな学園ドラマも好きです。実録番組である、アメリカのNext Top Modelはモデルの美について学ぶ事が出来ます。アメリカン・アイドルは、音楽産業で最も流行なものを私に発信してくれます。しかしながら、アニメが一番面白いです。テレビの中毒者でないかもしれませんが、私はアニメファンです。アニメであれば、一日中、テレビの前にいることが出来ます。

I used to have difficulties in English as a child and English in school was tough. But in high school, I met an English teacher who taught English in a manner so unique that before I knew it, I learned my lessons and had fun doing so! As an English teacher, I want my students to have a similar experience to what I had with my teacher. I want my students to learn English in a way that is easy to understand and at the same time fun. In order for me to achieve this, I have to ensure that my students are actively participating in the discussion. I have to know the student’s strengths and weaknesses so as to enforce the former and to improve the latter. I have to understand the student’s goals for the discussion so that we can work towards meeting the goals. And lastly, I have to encourage the student’s learning in a fun and interactive manner so that English learning will be something he or she will look forward to.

私は子供の頃、英語を学ぶのに苦労していました。しかし、高校で、ユニークに英語を教える先生に会いました! 英語の先生として、私は、この時、私が感じた気持ちと同様の経験生徒にもをして欲しいと思います。私は、生徒に分かり易くて、おもしろい方法で英語を勉強して欲しいと思います。これを達成するために、生徒が活発に議論に参加しているのを保証しなければなりません。私は、前者を実施するために学生の長所と短所を知って、後者を改良しなければなりません。目標を達成することに向かって私たちが取り組むことができるように、学生の議論の目標を理解しなければなりません。そして、最後に、英語学習が、何か楽しみになるように、おもしろくて対話的な方法で教えなければなりません。

WOW is a word that comes to mind whenever I think of Japan and Japanese culture. I have great respect for the Japanese for excelling in business, science, technology, arts, and literature. I have studied Japanese history and literature in school and all the things I learned never ceases to amaze me. The Japanese are very advanced in almost everything but they are also reverent of their past. Past mixed perfectly with the present, technology together with nature, the genius of the Japanese simply cannot be explained with just a few words.

「WOW」は、私が日本と日本文化を考えるときはいつも、思い浮かぶ単語です。私はビジネスに優れている日本人に対し、科学、技術、芸術、および文学に対するすばらしい敬意があります。私は日本史を研究しました。そして、私が学んだ事は、驚くものばかりでした。日本人はほとんどが非常に高度で、また、過去も素晴らしいです。現実と過去、自然と技術をミックスした日本人の特質は、少ない単語では絶対に説明できません。
