I have lived all my life in the beautiful and booming city of Cebu. My city is the 2nd largest city in the Philippines. It has a population of nearly a million people. It’s an ever-growing metropolis. The dream of local officials in my city is for Cebu to be the next hub of trade and industry in Asia. That dream is not so far in reach as my promising city is gearing up with the nearly completion of the South Reclamation Project (SRP). The city’s beloved mayor, Tomas Osmeña with the unrelentless help of the JICA agency and the government of Japan are making this dream a reality soon. My beloved hometown and city with all the hustle and bustle with be the next Hong Kong in Asia.
On the other hand, I am the only child in the family. My father is from Bohol Island and my mother is from the island of Negros. There are only 3 of us in the family but quite nicely our so-called extended family members are our pets: dogs, a cat and a lovely pair of African love birds, which makes my family somehow complete and fun.

I have had this online teaching job for over a year already. I must say, it’s very challenging and fun at the same time. As much as possible, I don’t want to bore my students nor would I want them to be so stiff during the class. I would really do my best to make it sure that they feel warm and comfortable during class time. Though, I am your teacher but most importantly please think that am, too, is your friend. Please feel free to ask and interact. Though, two things I ask to my future students when having my class: be open-minded and think happy-come to the class with enthusiasm. Why? It will make the lessons easy to understand. Things will go on smoothly.

Favorite TV program and its contents
My favorite TV programs are the following: CSI Las Vegas and Miami, Iron Chef America, Amazing Race Asia, any shows from the Discovery channel and National Geographic, etc.
Somehow these shows are wholesome, though not completely. I prefer movies and shows that will stimulate my mind to better thinking and judgment.

Goals and dreams as an English teacher
This phrase has long been in my mind. I was and still am inspired by it: A mediocre teacher-teaches; a good teacher-explains; a superior teacher –demonstrates; but a GREAT teacher-inspires. My goal then as an English teacher is to inspire my students-knowing that hard work and dedication will bear fruit in the end. Learning English should be fun and exciting. If one thinks it’s difficult then it’s difficult. But if one thinks positively, then it will open our minds to great understanding and endless possibilities.
長く私の心に残っていて、今も刺激し続けている言葉があります。二流の教師は教えるだけ。良い教師は説明する。優れた教師はやってみせる。しかし、偉大な教師は刺激を与えるのだと。だから私は生徒さんを刺激して、一生懸命頑張れば最後には成就するということを教えたいと思います。英語学習は楽しいものであるべきです、もし難しいと感じてしまったら難しいものになってしまうので、前向きにとらえて、すばらしい理解と終わりのない可能性に心を開いてほしいと思います。 -
About Japanese and Japan
Japan is one great country- that’s a fact.
Japanese people are generally hard-working and industrious. I can see why Japan is one of the greatest nations in the world. They are generally disciplined and adventurous, too. Also, I found out over the course of my work in this company that Japanese people are kind and very generous. Usually, I just hear these things but having to experience it for myself is another story to tell. Hopefully soon, I’d have the chance to explore Japan myself. Explore the country- its people, foods, cultures and customs.
日本はすばらしい国です。日本の人は一般に勤勉です。しっかりしていて、冒険心があるために世界でも成功したのだと思います。また、授業を通して、日本人は親切で、寛大だということがわかりました。これからもっと日本について知ることができる機会があったらいいなと思います。
