I’m from Dumaguete City, a peaceful and progressive city that possess four major universities that is why it’s dubbed as the “university town” and “the city of gentle people”. I come from a family of politicians, lawyers and nurses. My grandfathers from both sides of my parents are lawyers and so are my uncles. My dad is a councilor and his brother is the former mayor of Dumaguete City and lastly my mom is a registered nurse. That is why from a young age I was taught that education should be one of the priorities to be taken seriously for it is one of the major factors that will lead us to success.

私の出身はドゥマゲテ市です。主要大学が４校もあり、穏やかで革新的な街だけに「学園都市」「優しい人の街」と親しまれています。私の家族は政治家、弁護士と看護師をしています。二人の祖父と伯父たちが弁護士、父が市議会議員をしており、その兄はドゥマゲテ市の前市長をしていました。母は正看護婦です。このような環境で育ったため、私は幼いころから、成功を導く重要な要素として教育を受け止め、優先されるべきものの一つであると教えられてきました。

Being a teacher will surely be a challenge especially when teaching foreign students but I am positive that I can help them if they are really interested to learn because I can assure them that I will do my best to make learning as simple and fun as I can. Of course there might be questions that will be raised that will be hard to answer but one thing I can promise them is that I will use every bit of knowledge I have to give them the correct answer. I am sure that if the students will continue to increase their interest towards learning English I can help them develop not only their speaking but as well as their confidence. Students need not to worry since I have been a student nurse and one thing I learned by it is to establish rapport with people from different socioeconomic backgrounds so students should not be nervous or scared to have me as a teacher because I am really understanding and fun to be with.

特に外国人の生徒さんをもつ先生になることは、簡単なことではないと思っています。しかし、みなさんが興味を持って勉強しようとしているなら、私は力になれると確信しています。できる限り授業をわかりやすく、楽しくすることをお約束します。難しい質問を受けることもあるかもしれませんが、私の持っているすべての知識を使い、必ず答えを提供します。生徒のみなさんが好奇心を持って英語の勉強を続ければ、英語のスピーキングだけでなく、自信をつけるお手伝いもできます。 私は看護学生だったので、さまざまな社会経済的な背景を持った人と信頼関係を築くことを経験してきました。相手を理解し、誰とでも楽しむことができる性格なので、緊張せず、安心して授業を受けてもらえると思います。

I have no specific favorites but I usually watch educational programs on Discovery Channel, History Channel and other Reality based programs. I watch our local news as well as CNN and Fox News.

特にありませんが、普段はディスカバリー・チャンネルや歴史チャンネルなどの現代社会を基にした教育番組を見ています。地域のニュース番組だけでなく、CNNやFOXニュースも見ています。

My goal as an English teacher is to share the skill that I have in speaking the language and hopefully help the students develop their English skills so that they may use it in their personal endeavors and businesses. Personally, my goal for myself is to prove to my family and self that I can do jobs that aren’t in line with our family’s traditional occupations, and I know I can do it for I am determined and ready to face the new challenge as an English teacher.

英語の先生としての目標は、私の持っている英会話のスキルを提供することで、生徒さんの英語力を伸ばし、それが彼らの将来の夢や仕事に役立つことです。個人的な目標としては、家族と自分自身に、彼らと同じような古風な職業でなくても仕事ができるということを証明することです。英語教師として挑戦する覚悟はできています。

I have a lot of respect for Japan and the Japanese since everything they do seems to exude discipline and quality performance. I have no question of Japan’s beauty and power since I am aware that the country is one of the superpowers of the world. Japan possess many aspects that countries admire and what makes me respect the country and culture even more is that even if it is already doing very well in the world market, the country is still determined to do better to be more competitive than they are today.

私は、すべてが良質で洗練されている日本とそれを作る日本の人々を、多いに尊敬しています。世界の超大国の一つであることはよく知っているので、日本の美しさと強さに疑問はありません。日本はほかの国からも愛されるものがたくさんあり、すでに世界市場で成功しているにも関わらず、日々向上心を持っているところに、より一層、尊敬の念を抱いています。
